flying to chicago with connecting flight to philadelphia

i am a solo female traveller flying to chicago airport from manchester,uk in mid june, i have roughly 2 hours to get a connecting flight to philadelphia, i have a hearing disability but wear a hearing aid,i get assistance whilst on the flights but not in the airport itself, how easy is this airport to navigate? i know i have to go through immegration, collect luggage,go through customs, drop off luggage at the transit desks/belt, then get to a monorail to go to another terminal as i am flying all flights with american airlines. answers much appreciated as this is the first time in america and the first time ive done this on my own. i know people say you can ask anyone but when i was 15 i was going to visit relatives in southern ireland and i asked if the boat was going going to dublin, the person said yes and i got on it, i ended up at dun laoghire not dublin, that experience has since left its mark on me!

As noted, it is quite easy to make the transfer from T5 to T3. T3 will be the first stop after you board the tram (people mover). Make sure you get on a tram going in the correct direction - there are electronic signs over the doors.

When you get to T3, go direct to the security line and to your gate. Two hours is enough time to make your connection. If you miss your connection, AA will rebook you on the next flight. O%26#39;Hare is well marked with signs.

hi

this is was i was frightened of getting on the tram going the wrong way, what do i look for on these signs above the door?

The tram between terminals is marked with red, LED, changeable message boards.

One side of the terminal will be going from Terminal 5 to Terminals 3, 2, 1 (there is no terminal 4). The other side will be going to Long Term Parking.

If you happen to get on the wrong tram, no worries. You will enjoy a short ride to the long term parking, where the tram will then reverse direction and head back to Terminals 5, 3, 2, 1.

In the interest of accuracy, in hindsight I believe they call the parking ';Remote Parking'; not ';Long Term Parking'; as I stated above.

hi

thanks for this, do you happen to know if they announce over speakers if there is a gate change? i ask this because with me wearing a hearing aid, i am able to hear but in noisy places,i dont always hear the full message

There are many, many electronic boards all over the terminals giving arrival/departure information. They do give information over the loudspeakers. Also, when you recheck your bag you can probably get the information there, although I%26#39;ve never had to do that myself.

hi

thanks for the info ive heard quite a few bad things about chicago airport, waiting ages in queues at customs and immegration, been grilled about your stay, waiting ages with no one around when you re-check your luggage for the connecting flight. is any of this true?

No. Transferring from an international flight to a domestic flight at ORD is fairly painless. Nothing to be concerned about. Just follow the instructions that we%26#39;ve given you.
