Changing planes at Chicago

Hello - we are arriving at terminal 5 and then have a flight to Jackson Hole from terminal 1. I understand that I will have to collect luggage, go through customs and then take a monorail (?) to terminal 1 and then check in and go through security again. We are arriving around 1400hrs - any ideas how long this will all take?

It%26#39;s pretty streamlined so it doesn%26#39;t take all that long. It sounds much more dramatic than it actually is. The monorail is right outside terminal 5 and its a 5 minute ride to terminal 1. Customs depends on the line, but they move you along pretty quickly.

After you clear customs and retrieve your luggage in T5, you%26#39;ll see a United check-in desk. You%26#39;ll leave your bags there and get your boarding pass for your next flight. When you get to T1, go direct to the security line and to your gate. You do not need to check in at T1.

Thanks for your comments - very much appreciated. At least we won%26#39;t have to carry out cases on the monorail!

Right after you drop your luggage, go straight ahead and then up the stairs to the right to the monorail. Do not be surprised to find terminal 5 a zoo after you drop your luggage. Just proceed to train and get off at Terminal one. Head immediately to security, A tip if security is busy, is to go toward the check luggage area, keep going past the first security point to the next one, it is usually faster and then you can backtrack if needed after security.
