Try hotels in Evanston that are near the Purple Line. It connects with the Red Line at Howard Street. Stay away from hotels on Sheridan Road in Chicago.

how long does it take to ride the L from Evanston to downtown?

Hypothesis: You are driving from MN for a game @ Wrigley and want to stop short of Chicago. Is this true?

From downtown Evanston to downtown Chicago - about an hour.

Taking the family to Chicago. Might go to a game, might not. I%26#39;m wanting to stay away from downtown hotels to save money.

Give your dates and number of people. Many posters here track hotel deals. There are many out there now, unless it%26#39;s a big convention week.

June 25-28.

If you can%26#39;t find a deal in the city, don%26#39;t be limited to hotels on the Red/Purple CTA line. You could also look in the O%26#39;hare/Rosemont area and take the CTA blue line downtown to Loop. There is also a shuttle bus from the blue line to Wrigley @ I believe the Addison stop between O%26#39;hare and Loop.

Also check rates at the Hampton Inn in Skokie. Free parking/breakfast/indoor pool. 10 minutes to the CTA yellow line train station.
