Can you tell me where is the best place to stay for a relaxing break beside lake Michigan? Also is it best to rent an apartment or stay in a hotel, any advice would be really appreciated.

The Westin on North Michigan and The Drake on Walton are a block or two from Oak Street Beach. Re: condo or hotel, it depends on what you are interested in. I personally like hotels myself but I used to live in a hotel too so I am comfortable with that.
