shopping

My college daughter and I want to do some major shopping while we are in Chicago later these month. We have done Wicker Park and Mag. Mile before. Have heard about Southport Ave. Can someone give me some more info on what stores are on Southport and and address where to start shopping.

http://maps.google.com/ - would be a good resource for you. Use 3200 N. Southport as a start address and search from there.

Where might I locate what stores are in that area?

Please use the link I provided above. Search for clothing stores (or whatever you%26#39;re looking for) and the site will show you what%26#39;s in the area along with a map.

If you do a google search for southport avenue shopping chicago you%26#39;ll get plenty of informative links, such as:

frommers.com/destinations/…0006023037.html

…metromix.com/style/…content

Plus a link to google maps for the area, complete with links to websites for some of the shops.

Thank you, those sites were helpful. :)

There is also shopping on Armitage and Halstead, which is not far from Southport. You can connect the two spots by using the Brown Line El. If you do the same google searchs suggested above you%26#39;ll see what shops are there - lots of boutiques and some chains like lucky jeans, united colors of benetton, etc.

If you%26#39;re looking on a map, most of the shopping would be, from the corner of Armitage and Halstead, west on Armitage and North on Halstead. If you look on google maps you%26#39;ll see the intersection and also where the El stop is on Armitage.

Another great area to shop is State Street at Washington. They have Nordstrom Rack, H%26amp;M, Old Navy, Forever 21 etc. It is an easy area to get to by the Red, Blue, Green and Orange Line trains as well as by bus. I would also recommend Andersonville for it%26#39;s many boutiques, restaurants and other independent retailers. Andersonville is a great neighborhood to hang out in and is close to the lakefront. So you could spend some time shopping and then head out to the lake to celebrate all your purchases :)
